In between the educational and environmental activities, the group will get to do sightseeing and visit touristic sites and attractions. Through this, students will get a taste of America’s culture, history and cuisine. More about what each of the cities have to offer in this respect, can be found below.
New York – sitting where the Hudson River meets the Atlantic Ocean, this city is among the world’s major commercial, financial and cultural centers. Its iconic sites include skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building and sprawling Central Park. Get to know this concrete jungle and be amazed by neon-lit Times Square and take a walk down Broadway.
The Brooklyn Bridge, an iconic symbol of New York City, spans the East River, connecting the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Completed in 1883, this architectural marvel is renowned for its Gothic-inspired towers and distinctive suspension cables. Pedestrians and cyclists can traverse the bridge on dedicated paths, offering breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and the East River. Roll your windows down and get a look at a lawn filled with steel armadillos, metal mariachis, flying cows and more while cruising down TX-288 South at Texas Pipe and Supply Company’s Eclectic Menagerie Park. Located near TX-288 South just past W Bellfort Avenue, the Eclectic Menagerie Park features a variety of handmade metal sculptures which line the edge of the Texas Pipe and Supply Company’s 108-acre pipe yard. The collection began back in 1987 when Jerry Rubenstein, Chairman of the Board at Texas Pipe and Supply, purchased a single hippo sculpture from a statuary in El Campo, TX –and his collection has been growing ever since. The Tibet-Butler Preserve, nestled in the heart of Orlando, Florida, is a serene natural haven that offers a peaceful escape from the bustling city. The Sea Turtle Preservation Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and protection of sea turtles in various coastal regions. Through its initiatives, the society aims to raise awareness about the threats facing sea turtles, such as habitat destruction and pollution. Volunteers and researchers work to monitor nesting sites, rescue injured or stranded turtles, and engage in community education programs. The society actively supports research efforts to better understand sea turtle behavior and migration patterns. The group will stay in different hotels and hostels throughout the journey. Students will share a room, either sleeping in a single bed or sharing a double bed. Adults will also share rooms if necessary, but will all be assigned single beds. Everyone will be assigned rooms according to their gender.
Within and between the cities of New York and Washington DC, and the states of New York and Pennsylvania, the group will mainly travel by public transport. On occasion we may also travel by charter bus or a 12 or 15 seater van, depending on availability, feasibility, accessibility and the final number of students who participate. Schools that have included Houston or Florida in their itinerary, will also be taking a domestic flight. Within Houston and Florida the mode of transport will also mainly be metro, (charter) bus or charter van.
Prices for this trip are starting from 750 USD per student. Please be aware that this is no fixed price. The exact costs for your itinerary depend on your group’s specific needs and wishes.
Included in the price for this tour are: accommodation bookings, airport transfers, public transport and charter bus tickets, school exchange, environmental and educational activities, university visits, boot camps, excursions and workshops. Also included are sightseeing sites that are free of charge.
Not included in the price are: airfare tickets and baggage fees, food (delivery), visa, insurance, personal expenses such as phone charges and entry tickets to touristic highlights. Also not included are entry tickets to rides, games and other forms of entertainment or anything else not mentioned in the paragraph above or that is outside of the schedule and itinerary.
Please mind: we are able to book the domestic airfare (within USA) on your request. This, however, has to be paid separately from the tour fee and will be shown as reimbursement for tickets in the quotation and invoice.
After your school has received and agreed to our quotation, GreenContributor requires an advance payment of at least 300 USD per student to confirm your school’s participation. This payment is non-refundable but if your school chooses to participate in any other future Greencontributor tours, 150 USD can be deducted from the next advance payment (for the same amount of students that would participate initially). The payment deadline for our next trip is May 20th, 2024.
